New Port Richey, Fla. – February 24, 2011 – As the economy starts to spin around, new product innovations will be key to meeting the demands of foodservice operators and their customers. As a result, equipment manufacturers like Manitowoc Foodservice push toward products that are more user-friendly, consume less energy and water, cook foods quicker without impacting flavor, and offer multiple cooking platforms within one piece of equipment. The National Restaurant Association (NRA) has recognized trend-setting kitchen equipment from around the world with their prestigious Kitchen Innovation (KI) award.
This year, two Manitowoc Foodservice brands will be receiving 2011 Kitchen Innovation Awards. Manitowoc Ice will receive an award for its new Indigo ice machine offering intelligent diagnostics and 24/7 monitoring. Operators can program ice production, and monitor all functions including ice clarity, machine maintenance, energy/water usage, and the unique LuminIce™ growth inhibitor.
Manitowoc’s second award recipient was Cleveland Range, LLC for its Mini 2in1 Combi Oven. The Mini Combi oven-steamer, with two independent cooking chambers in a single body requires little space and allows food to be prepared simultaneously using different cooking methods.
"Each of our judges has the hands-on experience and real-life expertise to recognize the tools that are truly going to have substantial impact on the efficiency and success of a restaurant’s kitchen and ultimately the success of the restaurant itself," says C.W. Craig Reed, convention chair for the 2011 NRA Show and director of food and beverage, Broadmoor Hotel. "Our Kitchen Innovation Award recipients contribute to the evolution of our industry and help restaurant operators reduce costs while boosting profitability. As the industry recovers from tough economic times, these products will make a difference in commercial kitchens across the nation."
All winners will be showcased with live interactive demonstrations in the Kitchen Innovations Pavilion during the National Restaurant Show in May 2011.
